Abstract

This study explores the mediating role of high-performance work systems (HPWS) in the relationship between applied artificial intelligence (AI) and innovative work behavior (IWB) among employees. As organizations increasingly integrate AI to improve efficiency and decision-making, understanding how these technologies influence employee behavior through HPWS practices becomes essential. HPWS are proposed as a critical mechanism through which AI drives innovation. The study argues that AI can transform work processes and knowledge demands, and when aligned with HPWS, it cultivates an environment that encourages learning, autonomy, and creative engagement. This enriched organizational climate enables employees to contribute innovative ideas and solutions. By highlighting the integration between AI and HR practices, the study provides practical insights into how firms can foster innovation capabilities and maintain a competitive edge in rapidly evolving, technology-intensive environments.
